Web Sniffer is an online web form that will check the http headers returned when any url is submitted.
Http header information is useful when your server is hosted by another company and you do not have acces to header information or its setup.
Knowing http header information helps with page design and web development. For example, the character set returned by this webserver (iid.co.nz) is ISO 8859-1,utf-8 and so I know that I'm best to create my webpages with an authoring tool that can save the pages in either of the two specified character sets.
We added Web Sniffer to our resource section because we recently needed to find our http headers for a site on a shared-hosting server. We found web-sniffer to be a useful tool, although one that would be utilised infrequently.
