Keyword density is regarded as one of the most important on-page search engine optimization (SEO) factors that can be easily manipulated. For some keywords, it is common to see sites with PR0 in the top ten search engine results when that page has a favourable keyword density.

There is no single density percentage that fits all sites. No magic ratio that will instantly get you to the top of the SERP (search engine results page). Every sector, category, or niche/genre has its own optimum keyword density that performs best at a particular time. Its a very dynamic situation and keyword density should be analysed and checked frequently to stay abreast of any changes to search engine algorithms.To use the free keyword density tool correctly, you'll need to do a search on google for your particular word or phrase that you want to have a top placement for. Look at the sites that are there in the top positions and analyse their keyword density. You'll find a commonality for on page keyword density that will immediately reveal the optimum density for that keyword or phrase in the chosen sector, category, niche or genre that the page and site represents.
By comparing keyword densities of the top sites in your industry sector, and then adjusting your own page(s) to reflect that same density, you should experience a positive effect to your search engine positioning.
However, it is unclear whether optimising for keyword density has any affect on page rank. As we have already mentioned, even a PR0 site can get top ten positions if keyword density is effective.
Staying in the top position is more difficult and will involve ongoing efforts beyond simple on-page keyword analysis. But its a good place to start!
